Let Me

LETME_CoverSynopsis

Once he was broken beyond repair.
Now this MMA contender is fighting to be a better man—for her. RT Book Reviews
proclaims that the O’Brien Family series from award-winning author Cecy Robson
“has the hottest brothers ever!” And in Let Me, it is Finn’s turn to discover
how love can heal the deepest wounds.

A mixed martial arts star on the
rise, Finn O’Brien dismantles his opponents with brutal precision. And yet
beneath his fierce persona, Finn is raw from a trauma he’s buried for years . .
. until the day his deep-rooted rage erupts and lands him in court-mandated
therapy. Finn’s not one to bare his soul, but if talking it out means meeting
beautiful women like Sol Marieles, he’ll give it a shot.

Sol is working toward her master’s
degree in psychology, and already she feels like she’s in over her head. With
an important internship on the line and a scary family situation demanding her
attention, the last thing Sol needs is Finn around to distract her. The man is
ripped and seriously sexy yet it’s his troubled side that warns her to keep her
distance. But their attraction is intense, and he clearly has the heat to see
how far and fast their passion takes them.

Alone, Finn and Sol have been
fighting to find happiness in their lives. Together, there’s no stopping them
as they face their greatest challenges—not in the ring, but in their
hearts.

Review

3.5 Stars

This book was beautiful and heartbreaking and romantic and emotional all at the same time. It was also tough read, but well worth reading. These two beautifully broken and flawed souls finding each other and working to make each other whole again.

My Thoughts

Cecy knows how to tackle difficult or uncomfortable subject matters and even though they can be hard to read, her characters always come out the other side stronger and better for having gone through them. I knew Finn’s story was going to be a rough one and she didn’t disappoint. I also knew it would be a beautiful one; one full of hope and promise and I was not disappointed.

Finn O’Brien is at the top of his MMA game, when his demons start to become more than he can take. He gets sent to therapy to deal with his issues. He runs into Sol while in therapy. Sol and Finn have known each other since they were little kids, but they don’t exactly know each other at all, in fact at times it felt like nobody really knew either of them.

Sol is struggling to cope with her mother’s mental illness and seems to be struggling the most with allowing others the opportunity to help. I got the fact that she wanted to be the one that could help her mum but shouldering all the responsibility herself was not the healthiest way to handle the situation.

A story full of ups, downs, good days and bad along with everything in between. It was a beautiful story about second chances, love, redemption and letting things you can’t control go in order to move on. It is definitely a story you do not want to miss. Highly recommended if you like your bad boy fighter with a tender side and a whole brood of demons to slay.

Dirty Sexy Saint

Synopsis12167406_10153136549657681_785521662_n FINAL

Are you ready to get Dirty Sexy with a Saint?

Clay Kincaid knows he’s more a sinner than a saint. Especially when it comes to women. With a rough and damaged past that has left him jaded, he doesn’t do committed relationships. But he does like sex–the hotter and harder, the better. He likes it fast and filthy, which is why he refuses to even touch someone as sweet and guileless as Samantha Jamieson. Until he discovers that she likes it just as down and dirty as he does.

Let the sinning begin . . .

Review

3.5 Stars

I really liked Clay and the entire Kincaid clan. The story was well written and fun, but for me it moved a little slow in some parts and I found myself skimming a little. I would definitely recommend you get to know the Dirty Sexy series. It was well worth the read and I can’t wait to get to know Mason and Levi better.

My Thoughts

We first meet Samantha Jamieson her father is trying to force her to marry someone to keep the business in the family. She overhears these plans and refuses. Her father threatens to cut her off if she does not comply with his demands, so she leaves everything behind and goes. She ends up at a bar and gets wasted with no place to go or no money to spend.

She ends up at Clay’s bar Kincaid’s and “Saint” Clay helps her out and gives her a place to stay for the night. The next morning she tells Clay the whole story and he lets her stay with him and work at his bar. The two fight a strong attraction and dance around each other every day, while Samantha finds herself and starts to enjoy her independence. When they start a no strings affair, it soon becomes something more, until Clay’s past and Samantha’s present start to collide.

Dirty Sexy Saint was the an easy and very sexy read, it delivered a strong plot and enjoyable characters with good chemistry and real feelings. I cannot wait for book 2 in this series and seeing Clay’s brothers meet their match. Mason is a tattoo artist with manwhore ways and a seriously hot best friend that wants more, and Levi is a cop that is serious and straight laced.

Notable Quotes

I know, without a doubt, that I want you. More than I’ve ever wanted another man.

I don’t do soft and gentle and sweet. I like to control and fuck so hard and deep you’ll scream and be sore the next day. I’d want you on your knees, with my hands fisted in your hair while you suck my cock, and then I’d bend you over this table, spread your legs wide, and fuck you all over again.

He left no part of her untouched. Physically, he owned her. Emotionally, he felt so right, so much a part of her. So inevitable. Like she’d been waiting her whole entire life to meet him , to be with him. She’d never had that kind of intimate and profound connection with a man before… and she feared she never would again.

You’re playing with the hottest kind of fire there is, Cupcake.

You’d better feed me a bite of that cupcake before I change my mind and eat you instead

You can’t force a vibrant, independent woman like Samantha to be someone or something she isn’t and expect her to be happy.

***About Erika Wilde***

Erika Wilde (aka Janelle Denison) is the USA Today bestselling author of over 50 contemporary romances for multiple print publishers.

So, why the new pen name?

As Janelle Denison I’ve always written sexy books, but lately my writing has taken on more erotic elements that I wanted to keep separate for readers because not everyone likes their reading material on the spicier, kinkier side of romance. However, please be assured that even as Erika Wilde, you will still get an emotionally layered story with characters you’ll care about and fall in love with. That is always my goal, whether I’m writing straight contemporary romances, or more erotically charged stories.

Currently, I’m working on The Marriage Diaries and making sure that Dean and Jillian enjoy exploring the more erotic side to their marriage. The series will be on-going, with no foreseeable ending as of right now, for as long as readers want to be voyeurs to Dean and Jillian’s sizzling new relationship.

I’m also planning a spin-off series in the future, featuring the hot military men that work security for Dean at Noble and Associates.

Forever Pucked

29348230Synopsis

Being engaged to Alex Waters, team captain and the highest paid NHL player in the league, is awesome. How could it not be?

In addition to being an amazing hockey player, he’s an incurable romantic with an XL heart, and an XXL hockey stick in his pants. And he knows how to use it. Incredibly, orgasmically well. Alex is the whole package and more. Literally. Like his package is insane. Total world record holder material.

So it makes complete sense that Violet Hall can’t wait to nail him down to the matrimonial mattress and become Mrs. Violet Waters.

It’s so romantic.

Violet is totally stoked to set a date.

Eventually. At some point. Likely before the next millennium. Or when Violet stops getting hives every time someone brings up the wedding, and their mothers stop colluding on stadium sized venues. Whichever comes first.

Review

3.5 Stars 4 Stars

I really enjoyed this quick, fun return to Violet and Alex. It was nice to see the whole crew and to finally find out why Violet hates weddings. The Beaver and the Super MC are back and they’re getting married!

My Thoughts

This is the continuation of Alex and Violet’s crazy love story. This book is full of funny, silly, and sexy times…all things that we come to expect from these characters. But it also shows some touching and tender moments where we get to see more sides of both Alex and Violet that we haven’t seen before. I really enjoyed these more serious grown up moments right alongside the silliness.

Overall this was a really fun story that had many touching moments and a whole lot of laughs. I recommend this to anyone that enjoys a dash of silly, a large serving of belly laughs and a pinch of drama.

Music Notes by Lacey Black – Review

Music Notes

Music Notes_Amazon (1)Synopsis

Sing.

That’s what I came to do.

I was prepared to do just that until I walked into my audition and saw him. Tall, mysterious, and gorgeous to boot, he was sitting at the coaches’ table with three others, ready to judge my performance, and decide my future. Yet, since I’d walked onto the stage, he continued to look at anything but me. So, I did the one thing I was there to do: sing. When I opened my mouth and let those words spill from my lips, he finally looked up. Those startling, dark eyes collided with mine with such intensity that I knew one thing for certain: I would never be the same.

I am Layne Carter, newest contestant on Rising Star, the biggest singing competition on reality television. Nothing can stop me from giving this show my all. Not my horrible diva roommate. Not the fact that I’m terribly homesick and miss my family. And certainly not my uncontrollable growing attraction to my coach, Beau Tanner, award winning country superstar. Nothing will stand in my way.

And I’m wrong.

My Thoughts

I immediately fell in love with the premise of this book. With a  singing reality show and an off limits relationship how can you go wrong? Layne Carter is trying out to be America’s next Rising Star. She’s a little bit rock and roll and her new coach is a little bit country, but can the music of love prevail?

I liked Layne and the song choices throughout the show were pretty amazing. There was so much stupid drama and crap going on that it distracted me through most of the book, but it could have also been my hatred for Shawna. I know you were supposed to not like Shawna and her diva ways, but my skin crawled every time she was even mentioned. OK back to the actual story. I loved Beau and his southern drawl. He and Layne had chemistry that was off the charts. I really liked that Beau did not push for anything while they were on the show and didn’t want to hurt her chances of winning. This was a super slow burn book and while I appreciate the choices made and the way the relationship progressed I still wanted a little more from the romance side of the story.

What I loved about Music Notes was getting a behind the scenes look at the fast paced, drama filled, crazy world of reality music competitions – Lacey Black also let the book no matter which ending you chose had a HEA one way or another. It was like a choose your adventure and I did exactly the same thing I did when I was a kid and read them both. There were elements I loved from both of the endings, but I would have liked to see them blended together instead of two separate endings.

Overall I really liked the book, but the slow burn did not hold my attention as much as I wanted it to. I highly recommend this book if you like a long build up, a little music, and a lot of drama in your relationships.

Review

3.5 StarsMy Thoughts

When Risking It All by Christi Barth caught my eye on Netgalley, I was intrigued and interested in the blurb. How could I not be it had the manly hero and the reserved heroine. I decided to give it a shot, but in the end something kept me from loving this story. It was very well written and interesting, but something was missing for me.

Griffin had a massive hero complex that grated on me at times, especially when he vehemently denied it most of the book. And Chloe was so closed off and did not take any risks or variations in her schedule or routine. I know they both went through a lot to get them to these particular places in their lives, but they both seemed defined by their pasts instead of in spite of them.

Griffin and his buddies were close after their experiences but sometimes they were overly close. They talked about anything and everything with each other and in their blog. I could only imagine what it would feel like to be with a guy and have your fights or dirty laundry aired to the other 4 mates or worse on the blog, but I can only imagine that it would cause some massive issues. And his hang ups over Chloe and the way he treated her when he found out was atrocious. And then to discuss it with his friends in front of someone else I almost stopped reading there. Being a hero is about more that rescuing people it is about how you treat people too and this almost killed the book for me. I did press on and was able to forgive him like Chloe was. In the end I enjoyed the book but I did not love it. Overall it was a sweet, fun, easy read that I enjoyed but could not get over some of the roadblocks and issues that the characters had.

My Thoughts

The synopsis had me jumping right into this book. I mean a bad boy and falling for your best friend’s little sister are some of the best tropes out there, but for me I just did not connect with the characters. It was a quick, easy read, but I kept finding my mind wandering back to another book.

Jude was an ex con, but not the typical ex con. He was very rich and in charge of his family’s business. While Jillian just graduated with a dual degree and spent the summer interning in Paris. I really liked the getting to know you and fighting a relationship part of the story, but without the connection to the characters I found myself skipping around a little and skimming parts.

The book was very well written and I enjoyed Kylie Walker’s writing style, but this is a strong 3-3.5 star for me. I will definitely be on the look out for more of Kylie Walker’s books. I recommend this one if you like a big dose of steam, a healthy dose of secrets and a little family drama.

Review

3.5 Stars

This book was not my typical hot steamy romance and I loved it. This was a top notch sweet and swoony romance. I really enjoyed Ella and Charlie’s progression towards a real relationship. And to top it off it was set in the country music scene, which I am a huge fan of. I really liked the slow and steady build of the relationship and all the swoon-worthy moments from Charlie. This books if for anyone that had that impossible crush when they were younger and for those that get the chance to follow through on it.

This was a fun and sweet story that has me more than ready for the next installment in this contemporary romance series. It had it all, the bad boy/good girl, a touch of the forbidden, unrequited crushes, low angst factor and high swoon factor. It is 3.5 stars because I enjoyed the story and the swoons, but it just wasn’t an all encompassing must tell everyone I know to read book. It was overall a very good story and very well written, but it just wasn’t my absolute favorite. I highly recommend putting this one on your TBR and checking what’s next from Rachel Harris.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Excerpt

“So you’re impartial?”

He sat back and stared into her eyes. “No. But I won’t tell if you won’t.”

The line between fantasy and reality disappeared. Arabella no longer knew which way was up, which way was down, and which way led back to the bathroom, so they could get on with checking that last activity from her list. The only thing she was sure of was her best friend’s panicked face suddenly appearing beyond Charlie’s shoulder, silently communicating with wild eyes and unsubtle gestures.

The mythical clock marking Ella’s fairy tale had struck midnight. Her father had arrived.

Ella whimpered, feeling everything she’d ever wanted or dreamed about float away. She wanted to stay, wanted to see where the night could lead, but reality wouldn’t wait any longer. Placing a hand on Charlie’s chest, she exhaled her frustration and reluctantly pushed to her feet.

His hand shot out to snare her wrist.

“Charlie…” She shook her head. The next time she saw him things would be different. He’d know who she was and would be angry with her for keeping her it a secret. Either that or he’d pity her, which would be infinitely worse.

On second thought…

If this was her only chance, maybe there was time to steal one last memory.

Curving her free hand against his cheek, Ella slowly pressed forward, her heartbeat flitting like a hummingbird. She hesitated only a second, telling herself to savor the moment, then tentatively brushed her lips across his firm mouth.

Once, twice, three times, she hovered there, lingering and breathing in the intoxicating scent of soap, aftershave, and Charlie Tucker. It didn’t quite curl her toes, but holy moly did it leave her weak in the knees. He came alive under her mouth, tugging on her bottom lip and licking the seam of her lips, asking for entrance, and when he tightened his grip around her wrist to yank her closer, by God, she was tempted.

For the briefest second, Ella imagined what it would be like to let go. To throw caution to the wind, let him pull her into his lap, and feel what it was like to be wanted. But then, that was the thing…Charlie didn’t want her. He wanted the nameless woman who followed strange men into bathrooms. How could he want her when he didn’t even know who she was?

Rogue Debutante by Maggie Dallen – REVIEW

Rogue Debutante

SynopsisThe Rogue Debutante

A rebellion is brewing and everyone must pick a side….even pirates and debutantes.

Delia Langley has been a prisoner all her life – a prisoner to high society and its conventions. A prisoner to her wealthy father’s overprotective measures. A prisoner to a fiance-to-be in an arrangement made by her father to have a royal heir. In fact, the only time in her life that Delia ever felt free was when she was captured by the much-feared pirate Blackheart and his crew, and held for months while her father negotiated her ransom.

Now nineteen, the beautiful Delia is ready to leave another prison, the manmade “city in the sky,” Beau Monde, where she’s been tucked away, high above London all these many years. The plan is that after her debutante ball, her marriage to Lord Thaddeus Templeton will be announced, and the wheels will be set in motion for Delia to take her place as a proper society lady. Except she has other plans. Frustrated by the greed of the rich and the plight of the poor who live in the Shadowlands, a ghetto cast in darkness by the floating city of wealth above, Delia has been masquerading as Madame X, a French pirate, who has arranged to purchase her own pirate airship from the mysterious “Professor.” Then there’s Nicholas Crawley, the dashing, bachelor son of the family who have opened their home to Delia for her London visit. He’s ruggedly handsome – and he’s impossible. She doesn’t expect to fall for him, but there’s no denying the electricity that surges between them. A future with him would ruin everything, but her attraction to him is only one of many surprises poised to thwart her pirating plans in this charming steampunk tale.

Review

3.5 Stars

This book is not my typical read, and that is part of the reason I chose it. There were Pirates, air ships, rogues, and high society. I absolutely fell in love with this story. I loved Delia from page one and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.

My Thoughts

We first meet Dahlia when she arrives to Beau Monde to stay with The Crawfords. They run into trouble on the way home and she and her quick wit and fearlessness saved the day. From that moment on I was hooked. The story was full of intrigue, secrecy, and attitude. It was all of these things that made this book so fun to read. And then there is Nicholas. Dear Nicholas. He was just as trapped as Dahlia, but the two of them instantly clicked. The more they were together the closer they became. Both had secrets from each other and everyone else and that just added another element to this wonderful story. I was rooting for Dahlia to get the life she wanted the entire story and I was not disappointed. I recommend this book for anyone looking for something a little different, it was a quick fun read with a fun Steam-punk influence.

Excerpt

The spires of London grew in the distance as Delia hurtled through the air, her petticoats and skirts flapping in the wind. Delia opened her mouth to scream but her cry was drowned out by the sound of air rushing past as she tumbled toward the earth.

A rough grip on her arm brought her to a sudden and painful stop. Her shoulder shrieked in agony as she dangled in midair. She latched onto the rope that swung in front of her face, but whoever was holding on to her arm didn’t loosen his hold. She looked up to see who was keeping her from a grim and grotesque death.

She could only see her savior’s dark form; his face was hidden in the shadow cast by the airship hovering overhead. She felt the rope hoisting her toward the vessel and she resisted the urge to look down. When at last she reached the airship, a strong hand reached out to help her overboard, and she was finally able to see the face of her rescuer.

I really liked Clay and the entire Kincaid clan. The story was well written and fun, but for me it moved a little slow in some parts and I found myself skimming a little.

Testing the Boss by Mallory Crowe – REVIEW

Testing the Boss by Mallory Crowe

Synopsis

26372917

Billionaire Luke Devereaux gets what he wants and what he wants right now is to bring down the shady organization threatening his family. Teaming up with the FBI is his only option–even if that option comes in the sultry Evelyn Price, the ice-princess who’s all business.

Refusing to be distracted by the sexy, rich playboy, Evelyn forces herself to stay focused on the case, gearing up for the criminal takedown of her entire career. As the enemy closes in with Evelyn as its next target, it’s up to Luke to keep them out of danger. The more they work to protect each other, and fight for control, the harder it is to resist their undeniable attraction.

And the one thing Evelyn has learned from working with him is that Luke Devereaux gets what he wants.

Review

3.5 Stars

This book was full of suspense, steamy scenes, off the charts chemistry and a fantastic role reversal. Instead of the tough alpha guy being the protector, it was a bad-ass female FBI agent keeping Luke safe and kicking ass.

My Thoughts

This is a stand alone in the Billionaires in the City series, and while it can mostly be read by itself there were so many things happening and backstories weaved into the story that I think I would have benefited from reading the others first. I enjoyed the fast pace of the story and the banter through out the book. It was also refreshing that Luke was not an alpha billionaire that demanded everything and got pissy when he didn’t get his way. He may have stacked the deck to get his way but he wasn’t overly pushy and my way or the highway as so many are today.

This is the story of Luke Devereaux, a billionaire mixed up with white collar criminals and Evelyn Price, the tough FBI agent tasked with protecting/helping bring them down. They start the book fighting all the time and hating each other, which of course leads to smoking chemistry down the line. I didn’t really understand why they hated each other from this book, but maybe it was better explained in the previous book.

Things moved pretty quickly for the case and the duo’s slow burn of a relationship. Once they realized their attraction it was hard to ignore. So much so that Evelyn was distracted from her job and tried to step back to focus on the case. There was angst and drama and suspense right up until the very last page that kept you wanting to know what would happen next. That made this book a fun quick read.

About the Author

Mallory Crowe has lived in Michigan her whole life and has been in love with romance ever since she’d skip to the end of every novel, just to make sure the hero and heroine survived and ended up together. She lives with her husband and three dogs. When she’s not writing, she’s spending too much time in front of the TV, hiking, or working with various animal rescues.
