My Thoughts

I knew that I was going to love Justin when I met him in the last book and I knew this was not going to be an easy journey for either of them, but I loved every word of this book.
It was sexy, full of heart, and a great read. I love this family and the amazing brothers that are loyal, kind hot as soon, and amazing partners. Check out this whole series you will not be disappointed.

Salvaged by Jay Crownover – Review

reviewSalvaged

Synopsis

Hudson Wheeler is a nice guy. Everyone knows it, including his fiancée who left him with a canceled wedding and a baby on the way. He’s tired of finishing last and is ready to start living in the moment with nights soaked in whiskey, fast cars, and even faster girls. He’s set to start living on the edge, but when he meets Poppy Cruz, her sad eyes in the most gorgeous face he’s ever seen hook him in right away. Wheeler can see Poppy’s pain and all he wants to do is take care of her and make her smile, whatever it takes.

Poppy can’t remember a time when she didn’t see strangers as the enemy. After a lifetime of being hurt from the men who swore to protect her, Poppy’s determined to keep herself safe by keeping everyone else at arm’s length. Wheeler’s sexy grin and rough hands from hours restoring classic cars shouldn’t captivate her, but every time she’s with him, she can’t help being pulled closer to him. Though she’s terrified to trust again, Poppy soon realizes it might hurt even more to shut Wheeler out—and the intense feelings pulsing through her are making it near impossible to resist him.

The only thing Poppy is sure of is that her heart is in need of some serious repair, and the more time she spends with Wheeler, the more she’s convinced he’s the only man with the tools to fix it.

goodreads

I knew going in that this book was going to be different. It was two broken people that healed each other, but this story was so powerful and beautifully written that is so different that what Jay normally writes. If I didn’t already have Jay Crownover as an auto buy author this book would have clinched that. It was a powerful and beautiful story.

My Thoughts

e When I started this book i was in the middle of a  2 month long reading slump. Nothing was catching or holding my attention. I would read here and there but just bits a pieces before I would find something else that could keep my attention. I should have known that it would be Jay Crownover that would snap that slump.

I have been reading about this crew since Rule came out, and loved every word, devoured every page and loved every couple. I knew this one was going to be different. I knew this was the last book in the series, so I already knew it was going to be an emotional read and knowing who it was about and seeing bits a pieces of their story through out the other books. Even knowing this did not prepare me for the amazing story that was written.

Hudson Wheeler and Poppy Cruz are both damaged, but really good people. It was fitting that their story was last and also one of the roughest in the series. Neither had easy lives but when they found each other it was amazing. The lone wolf and the ghost of a girl both came to life and opened up to the world. I loved every word of this book and read it from start to finish. I cannot recommend this book enough. It was full of the feels, full of healing, full of steamy moments, and a full restoration of two beautiful broken souls.

Hard Stick by LP Dover – Review

reviewHard Stick

Synopsis

He carries a big stick. And he’s not afraid to use it.

On the ice, I’m Kellan Carter, powerhouse enforcer for the Charlotte Strikers. Off the ice, I’m just a regular guy. The last thing I want is to get mobbed by a bunch of groupies who are only after me for my fame and money. My ideal woman knows how to enjoy a little good, clean fun—and maybe some not-so-clean fun too. That’s the kind of girl I’d never let go.

When Kristen Robinson, the gorgeous, down-to-earth bartender I’ve been crushing on, agrees to let me take her out, I’m thrilled. We have an amazing night together, culminating in the most electrifying kiss of my life—and that’s it. Kristen tells me we can’t see each other again, but I know that kiss meant as much to her as it did to me. What I don’t know is that Kristen has a dangerous secret. . . .

I’ve proved to Kristen that she can trust me with her body and her heart. But when her past comes back to haunt her, I need to prove that she can trust me with her life. And I might have to get my hands dirty after all.

** Hard Stick is an action-packed romantic suspense. Just to warn you, the story line does NOT center around hockey. The main character plays but a lot of the book is set outside of the rink. **

My Thoughts

One of my favorite things about picking up a book by LP Dover is that you never know what you are in for. If you are expecting a simple cute and sweet hockey book this is not that book. It is all of those things but so much more. The depth of the characters and the engaging storyline will keep you on your toes from page one all the way to the last words.
I loved how Kristen made such positive changes in her life after a bad experience and how sweet and sexy and all around perfect Kellan was.
I loved everything about this book. I highly recommend this author.

Out of the Ashes by R.C. Boldt – Review

reviewOut of the Ashes

Synopsis

Phoenix /fēniks/: (in classical mythology) a unique bird inhabiting the Arabian Desert that burned itself on a funeral pyre before rising from the ashes with renewed youth to live through another cycle.

This isn’t mythology, it’s war, and Hendy is left in the hands of Hell’s cruelest gatekeepers.

His team is killed before his very eyes, and despite his efforts to save them, he’s captured and subjected to merciless torture—losing virtually every piece of his identity but his pulse.

After his rescue, he returns home from Afghanistan, saddled with facing the daunting task of healing his physical scars as well as the invisible ones—his emotional demons.

Dr. Presley Cole isn’t one to shy away from a challenge. Embarking on a new journey, she makes it her mission to prove to Hendy that his life isn’t over; that he’s worthy of love.

Because sometimes even a phoenix needs help to rise…

Out of the Ashes.

4.5-Stars

This is the second time I have had the privilege of reading this book and let me tell you it gets better each time you read it. This is one of those books that I have no words for. RC Boldt has a way of dealing with heavy subjects in a way that makes you feel everything that the character is going through but at the same time with enough levity and humor to make you fall completely in love with the words on the page.

My Thoughts

This book is about a former SEAL that was injured and his journey to recovery, but it is so much more than that. These characters are real. They are not perfect. They do not always have the answers or handle things the way they should, but that makes the book so much better. The care she takes in portraying PTSD and military veterans in her books is outstanding. I highly encourage you to look past the “heavy” nature of the subject matter of this book and truly enjoy this close-knit group and the family that they created. They are so real and fun and amazing that you will want to immediately find out more about each of them and reserve your spot at Mamma K’s table for Sunday Dinner. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is so good you will not want to put it down.

Too Hard to Forget by Tessa Bailey – Review

But when Peggy walks back onto his practice field and into his life, he knows she could unravel everything in his carefully controlled world. Because the girl who was hard to forget is now a woman impossible to resist.

goodreads

My Thoughts

This is the third book in the Meet The Clarkson’s series and their ongoing road trip across the country. Peggy wants to make a stop at her alma mater and finally get over her college fling.

This book was surprising in its intensity in this book. Coach Brooks is a very intense guy and full of Catholic guilt about his life. Not gonna lie the intense Catholic guilt and the strong religious overtones in the book made me struggle a little more than I normally would with a Tessa Bailey book, but they weren’t over the top and felt genuine for the character.
Peggy and Elliot have this insanely strong pull towards each other and it made for some super hot, super intense scenes. And the forbidden relationship aspect just added to the drama and intensity of this book.

I really liked Peggy and her caring heart. At the beginning I wasn’t sure of Elliot because of how he treated Peggy, but as he opened up and let go of some of his guilt I really started to enjoy him. This book was definitely a ride I was not prepared for but I am very happy I did. It seems that each book in this series is better than the last and I cannot wait to see how it ends.

I have really enjoyed seeing each of the Clarkson siblings journey in finding themselves and their missing piece so far, but I am dying to get Belmont’s story. I wholeheartedly recommend this series and everything Tessa Bailey writes.

About the Author

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans, and laptop, and drove cross-country to New York City in under four days. Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend, and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband and daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

Walk of Shame by Lauren Layne – Review

reviewWalk of Shame

Synopsis

Pampered heiress Georgianna Watkins has a party-girl image to maintain, but all the shopping and clubbing is starting to feel a little bit hollow—and a whole lot lonely. Though Georgie would never admit it, the highlights of her week are the mornings when she comes home at the same time as her uptight, workaholic neighbor is leaving to hit the gym and put in a long day at the office. Teasing him is the most fun Georgie’s had in years—and the fuel for all her naughtiest daydreams.

Celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney doesn’t have much time for women, especially spoiled tabloid princesses who spend more time on Page Six than at an actual
job. Although Georgie’s drop-dead gorgeous, she’s also everything Andrew resents: the type of girl who inherited her penthouse instead of earning it.
But after Andrew caps one of their predawn sparring sessions with a surprise kiss—a kiss that’s caught on camera—all of Manhattan is gossiping about whether they’re a real couple. And nobody’s more surprised than Andrew to find that the answer just might be yes.

4.5-Stars

My Thoughts

I loved this book hard. This book hooks you from page 1 and doesn’t let go. it would be difficult to not like our heroine, but that is exactly what Andrew Maloney, Esquire does. She has this whole Holly Golightly feel about her, you know, where everyone in the from gravitates to her and she has never met a stranger, so for someone to not like her is completely foreign.
They meet in passing every morning as she is coming in for the night and he is leaving for the gym and engage verbal sparring matches that are so fun and quick-witted that you will find yourself chuckling and wishing you could come up with stuff this good off the top of your head.
Our divorce lawyer, Andrew, doesn’t believe in Happily Ever Afters and our socialite party girl only believes in Happily Even Afters. This book and their story is so much fun to read. It was a wonderful ode to Happily Ever Afters and was one of my favorite reads from Lauren Layne so far. I highly recommend this book.

EXCERPT

Standing at the receptionist’s desk, I waited to hear the verdict. Would Wade see me or not? When I heard his answer, I breathed a sigh of relief. I didn’t want my stupidity to ruin my shop’s chances at success. The receptionist smiled up at me. “You can go back now, Ms. Carmichael. His office is the last one on the right.”

“Thank you,” I replied with a smile of my own.

Pulse pounding in my ears, I walked down the hall to Wade’s office. I had a folder of my designs tucked under my arm. Hopefully, it’d be enough to persuade him. Taking a deep breath, I knocked on his door.

“Come in,” he called out, his voice making me shiver.

I hated how this man made me feel like that. It’d been over a week and I could still feel the way he touched every square inch of my body. I wasn’t a needy woman, but he made me want more. This is business, nothing more.

Head held high, I opened the door. Wade was at his desk, leaning back in his chair, all cool and confident, dressed in his expensive suit with his brown hair perfectly coifed. Definitely not a bundle of nerves, like I was. “Mr. Chandler, it’s good to see you again.”

His brows lifted. “Likewise. Although I’d probably believe it more if you hadn’t run out on me the last time.”

And there it was.

Biting my lip, I shut the door. I couldn’t tell if he was angry, or didn’t care. “Thought I’d save you the trouble,” I confessed. “We both had a little too much to drink that night. And let’s face it, it was either going to be me or you. And I prefer not to be the one left behind.”

“Neither do I,” he said in all seriousness. “So, what brings you here?”

This one was full of suspense, steamy sexy times, action and fun. I really enjoy this series and the twists and turns that each of these books take. This one was no exception.I loved Wade and Brina and their romance along with the suspense draws you in from the beginning and doesn’t let go until the very end. I highly recommend this series.
