reviewBeautiful Crazy

Synopsis

She’s a rocker with attitude and ink…He’s a sexy suit who gets what he wants

Kevan Landry is trying to keep her life on track and her brother in rehab. If her fledgling marketing firm can sign the hot new band, Manix Curse, it will make a world of difference. Mason Dillon heads the most successful music PR firm in Portland. He’s desperate to breathe new life into the company by signing Manix Curse.

The last thing either one needs is a one-night stand with a smoldering stranger…

The stakes are high when a battle for the band—in the bedroom and the boardroom—becomes a battle of the heart. But if these two can set aside their differences, they may find they’re the right mix of sexy savvy to conquer both their worlds.

goodreads

I loved Kevan from the start and Mason was hot as the suit, but overall I didn’t connect with this book. It started out with a bang and a rock show and then progressed into a cat and mouse game with one step forward and two steps back. The whole time I could not connect with either of the main characters. They wanted each other and didn’t want each other and I could not get on board with the hot and cold act.

The story was very well written and I enjoyed reading about the band and the marketing attempts, but the way the characters acted just put me off from the start. I do recommend this book though it was a pretty interesting read once things started picking up and the characters were very interesting and vibrant. I will be checking out the next books in the series and I can’t wait to read more from Kasey Lane.

I was excited to see more of the Belles and this awesome new series by Lauren Layne. And Heather and Josh did not disappoint… Josh was so swoony, while being the jerk musician next door and Heather was so funny and sweet it made for a great combination to read. I am dying to get my hands on Alexis’ story and see what is next for the Belles.

Furious Rush by SC Stephens – Review

Furious Rush

Stephens_FuriousRush_TRSynopsis

Too fast, too furious—and way too hot to handle…

Mackenzie Cox has a lot to prove. Daughter of a racing legend, she is eager to show the world that she has inherited her father’s talent in the male-dominated sport of professional motorcycle racing. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonized by her rival team’s newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Plucked from the world of illegal street racing, Hayden immediately gets under Kenzie’s skin. His insinuations that Kenzie is a spoiled princess who was handed her career fuels her desire to win, and much to her surprise, Kenzie soon learns she performs better when she’s racing against Hayden.

As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into an intense—and strictly forbidden—attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie always does her best to play by the rules, but when her team slips into a financial crisis, she has no choice but to turn to Hayden for help. The tension simmers during their secret, late-night rendezvous, but Kenzie has too much to lose to give in to her desires. Especially when she begins to doubt that Hayden has completely left his street life behind…

My Thoughts

This was a really interesting, really exciting, fast paced read and I was hooked from page 1. I really loved the world that SC Stephens has created here, with the motorcycle crews and the riders along with the street racing world. It was all intense, fast paced and fun to read.

The push and pull between Hayden and Kenzie was wonderful and the whole book was a fun interesting read. I loved the riding aspects and the thrills that were thrown in to the story, but at times it felt like there was too much going on. Too many hands in the pot so to speak and it made the story feel a little muddled at times.

Overall it was a good read that I enjoyed. I recommend this book for people who love racing and a very intense and driven heroine and a bad boy who would do anything for her.

Worked Up by Tessa Bailey – Review

Worked Up

Worked Up CoverSynopsis

Factory mechanic Duke Crawford just wants to watch SportsCenter in peace. Unfortunately, living with four divorcee sisters doesn’t provide much silence, nor does it change his stance on relationships. But when a fellow commitment-phobe stumbles into his life, getting him good and worked up, he can’t deny his protective instincts.

Samantha Waverly’s brother just put her in an impossible situation. The only way out? Marry huge, gruff, gladiator look-alike Duke—for show, of course. She doesn’t make promises—she knows too well how easily they can be broken—and this is no exception.

As the blistering attraction between them grows, the lines around the no-strings relationship blur. But Duke and Samantha’s marriage is only for show…or is it?

My Thoughts

Duke is the kind of grumpy, pouty man who his appearance screams don’t mess with me and inside he is a big teddy bear. Samantha has been sheltered and is trying to break free and do something daring. They are each drawn to the other immediately and things moved from there pretty quickly. There was some major insta love in this book and an even faster marriage.

Overall the book had a lot going for it, but ultimately Duke started grating on my nerves after a while. I am ok with the broody, dominate man sometime, but Duke was over the top even for me. Add to that one brother I couldn’t stand that is trying to force marriage and I was a little disenchanted. I loved all of the puns from Sam and her drawings and pretty much everything about her, but she became meek when her brother was around and it felt a little off for me.

I love Tessa’s writing and her steamy scenes are off the charts, but this one just didn’t quite work for me. I recommend checking out this one for yourself, as it was a decent read, especially if you like the strong, quiet type and a broody alpha. It was a fun read that was over the top, but I did enjoy most of the book.

Notable Quotes

Mother Mary. There were men. And then there was Duke Crawford. He wasn’t pretty or sculpted. Didn’t have the kind of physique that would land him on the pages of a calendar or on a “hot bodies” board on Pinterest. No no. Duke was husky and covered in hair. A bear among mere cubs.

Are you on a five-way text with them? Yes. Biggest mistake of my life. He pulled out onto the dark street, hitting the blinker and turning right. It’s like the mafia, these group texts. Once you’re in, you’re in for life.

I don’t want to be another responsibility to you.
Let me be the place you lose yourself instead.

We’re going to fuck tonight. Your bed. Mine. On the floor. In the shower. Against the window. All. Goddamn. Night. You’re going to know me from every angle when the sun comes up over New Jersey tomorrow.

Bad Boys After Dark: Mick by Melissa Foster – Review

Bad Boys After Dark: Mick

Synopsis

Indulge your inner vixen…

Meet the Bad Boys… Four sinfully sexy, fiercely loyal, uber alpha brothers about to fall head over heels for their leading ladies. If dirty talk, cursing, or raw, passionate sex turns you off, the After Dark books are not for you, because everything’s naughtier after dark.

In BAD BOYS AFTER DARK: MICK…
Amanda Jenner is done being a boring-man magnet and has finally taken control of her love life. As any smart paralegal would, she’s researched the hell out of how to seduce a man. She’s waxed, primped, and ready to put her newfound skills into action–and a masquerade bar crawl is the perfect venue for her solo coming-out party.

Entertainment attorney Mick Bad lives by two hard and fast rules. He never mixes business with pleasure, and he doesn’t do relationships, which makes the anonymity of a masquerade bar crawl the perfect place for a onetime hookup.

Amanda thinks she’s hit the jackpot when she bags a tall, dark, and sinfully delicious masked man–until she discovers the man she’s made out with is her off-limits boss. Mick’s already crossed a line he can never uncross, and one taste of sweet and sexy Amanda has only whet his appetite. When Mick offers to give Amanda a lesson in seduction–no strings, no regrets, and for goodness’ sake, come Monday, no quitting–the tables turn, and Mick’s totally unprepared for the lessons this sweet temptress provides.

Review

3.5 Stars

This was a super hot and steamy quick read. I loved Mick and Amanda and their off the charts chemistry. I look forward to reading more of this series.

My Thoughts

This book starts out with Amanda Jenner wanting to unleash her inner vixen and take control of her love life, and after much research on the subject she settles on a masquerade party to test her seduction skills. She sets her sights on a masked man who turns out to be her boss. He puts a stop to the one night stand and proposes an arrangement. One night of passion to test her skills quickly turns in to a decadent weekend filled with pleasure and passion. But what will happen come Monday morning?

I really enjoyed this take on the boss/employee trope. I really liked Amanda and her take charge attitude through most of the book, but everyone in a while she would be a needy insecure girl and it drove me nuts. And Mick was a broody alpha male most of the time, but he would spout things like no romance and don’t do this or that and then flip the switch and be uber romantic and sweet. I love a little back and forth, but I just did not click with this one. It was a very good, very well written, very fun sexy read, but for me it is only a 3.5. I recommend picking up this book and plan to read as many Melissa Foster books as I can. The writing and story was really good, just not my favorite book.

Dark Sexy Knight by Katy Regnery – Review

Dark Sexy Knight

29973144Synopsis

From New York Times bestseller Katy Regnery comes another timeless tale of love everlasting!

Loosely inspired by the legend of Camelot, Dark Sexy Knight tells the story of dinner theater knight Colt Lane, who meets down-on-her-luck Verity Gwynn on the worst day of her life. Evicted from their home, Verity and her special-needs brother, Ryan, must find jobs or risk being separated. Colt, who is the furthest-possible thing from a white knight in real life, comes to their unlikely rescue, quickly cementing his place in Verity’s heart.

Colt has dark, deeply buried secrets that keep his smile hidden and his eyes down, which has kept people away . . . until he meets Verity, who seems immune to his gruff manners and taciturn ways. The more time Colt spends with her, the more he longs for her sweetness in his life and yearns to be the knight in shining armor she so desperately needs. Certain he will lose her if she learns the truth about his past, he must decide if he can trust her with his yesterday in order to build a beautiful tomorrow.

Review

3.5 Stars

It was sweet, sexy, touching, very swoony and incredibly romantic. This book was loosely based on the story of Camelot, but has been updated in the best way. It’s a contemporary fairy tale with a moody, brooding, deeply protective modern-day bad-boy knight who falls utterly in love with a down-on-her-luck damsel in distress who he rescues. I enjoyed reading so much it was over before I knew it. It was a very sweet, sexy, swoony quick read that I highly recommend checking out.

Review

3.5 Stars

This book was beautiful and heartbreaking and romantic and emotional all at the same time. It was also tough read, but well worth reading. These two beautifully broken and flawed souls finding each other and working to make each other whole again.

My Thoughts

Cecy knows how to tackle difficult or uncomfortable subject matters and even though they can be hard to read, her characters always come out the other side stronger and better for having gone through them. I knew Finn’s story was going to be a rough one and she didn’t disappoint. I also knew it would be a beautiful one; one full of hope and promise and I was not disappointed.

Finn O’Brien is at the top of his MMA game, when his demons start to become more than he can take. He gets sent to therapy to deal with his issues. He runs into Sol while in therapy. Sol and Finn have known each other since they were little kids, but they don’t exactly know each other at all, in fact at times it felt like nobody really knew either of them.

Sol is struggling to cope with her mother’s mental illness and seems to be struggling the most with allowing others the opportunity to help. I got the fact that she wanted to be the one that could help her mum but shouldering all the responsibility herself was not the healthiest way to handle the situation.

A story full of ups, downs, good days and bad along with everything in between. It was a beautiful story about second chances, love, redemption and letting things you can’t control go in order to move on. It is definitely a story you do not want to miss. Highly recommended if you like your bad boy fighter with a tender side and a whole brood of demons to slay.
